Progeco Moto: Triumph Would Like To Take The Girl On A Bike To The Raid 1000 Dunas’ Historic Finish.
As seen in The ProgecoMoto: Triumph has announced that a Tiger 900 Rally Pro will compete in the 2022 Raid 1000 Dunas, driven by Vanessa Ruck.
Ruck, 36, will try to become the first woman to complete the Raid des 1000 Dunes – which takes cyclists 1,200km from Spain to Morocco and back – on a standard adventure bike.
Ruck has been known as ‘The Bike Girl’ since she got into motorcycling after being hit by a car while cycling to a lake in 2014. The crash resulted in several surgeries, including one shoulder reconstruction and five hip surgeries.
As she recovered, Ruck found herself transferring her love of two-wheeled adventures from bicycles to motorbikes, and became the first woman to complete the Tunisian Desert Challenge before competing in many many other rallies – including Red Bull Romaniacs, Qatar Baja and Rallye du Maroc – over time since.
Vanessa Ruck said of the Raid 1000 Dunas: “The Raid 1000 Dunas is a tall order, not only because of the terrain, which is physically tough, but also the mental strain it takes to navigate the course.
“I chose the Tiger 900 Rally Pro because it’s the perfect companion to take on the challenge and push the limits of what motorcycles and I can do. »
Although the 1000 Dunas Raid (“Dunas” meaning “dunes” in Spanish) is an international event – starting in Granada, Spain, passing through Morocco and ending in the same Spanish city – it will be the second major rally raid based in Spain. event in which Triumph participated this year.
Ruck’s entry into the 1000 Dunas Raid follows Ivan Cervantes’ entry, also with a Tiger 900 Rally Pro, into Baja Aragon in July, in which the Spanish enduro legend won the new Trail category.
The 1000 Dunas raid begins this weekend on October 22 and ends a week later on October 29.
